5 Simple Steps to Clean Up Paint Spills

By Jess @_prettyliving

Whether you are a professional tradesperson or the average DIYer, it’s important to be fully prepared before taking on a painting project. From painting a house to adding small touches to a craft project, accidents can happen and if not prepared you can find yourself ruining your favourite pair of jeans or a chunk of carpet due to a paint spill/s.

While it’s highly recommended to wear old clothing and to cover up any flooring or furniture with drop sheets before painting, sometimes that might not be feasible or seem like a necessity at the time, in particular with smaller painting projects. In other cases, you might find yourself taking those precautions but accidentally knocking over a paint can, leading to paint splatters across the room and outside of your drop sheets.

No matter how big or small of an accident and mess that is left behind, there’s no need to stress as DIGGERSTM can help with the cleanup.

DIGGERSTM Paint Cleanup cleans wet paint spills from carpet, clothing and other textiles including upholstery. Important: always spot test a small inconspicuous area first for colour fastness.

Here are the steps to follow to remove wet paint spills:

1. Soak up wet paint fast with an old rag or towel

Grab an old rag or towel (avoid fluffy fabrics) and gently blot to lift fresh spills.

2. Pour paint clean up solution onto a cloth, not the spill

Pour DIGGERSTM Paint Cleanup onto a microfibre cloth, applying directly risks spreading the stain. It’s recommended to wear gloves while using DIGGERSTM Paint Cleanup.

3. Lift the stain: Dab and press, don’t rub

Dab the soaked cloth onto the spill, using gentle press and lift motions to pull the paint into the cloth.

4. Rinse and repeat: Work until the stain has gone

Rinse the cloth thoroughly as needed and repeat step 3 until all the paint has been removed from the carpet/clothes.

5. Dry the area with a cloth

Wipe over the area with a clean damp cloth then pat with a dry microfibre cloth or towel to dry the area.

DIGGERSTM Paint Cleanup can also be used on hard surfaces. Simply pour a little onto a microfibre cloth and then wipe over the affected surface.

Before starting your next painting project, it’s a great idea to have a bottle of DIGGERSTM Paint Cleanup on hand for peace of mind if a spill or accident does occur.
